Martin Hunt

Martin Hunt  Chairman

Martin Hunt was appointed to the Board of Directors in January 2012 and brings over 25 years of experience in multi-national and start-up medical device companies. Martin was CEO of Tissue Science Laboratories (TSL) which he successfully developed into an AIM listed company and subsequently sold to Covidien in 2008. Prior to joining TSL in 1999, Martin's career included Sales and Marketing positions at American Cynamid, ConvaTec, Bristol-Myers Squibb and being CEO of two early stage companies.

Stéphane Sallmard

Stéphane Sallmard  

Stéphane Sallmard is a seasoned healthcare executive who has held senior positions with General Electric Medical Systems and Acuson Inc. Most recently he was the CEO of Optos Plc. (UK) where he was instrumental in attracting $28M in new funding, growing the company from $1.5M revenues in 2001 to $67M revenues in 2006 and taking it public on the London Stock Exchange in early 2006.

John Pavlidis

John Pavlidis  

Former President and CEO of R2 Technology Inc (USA)., the pioneer and leader in Computer Aided Detection (CAD) for the earlier detection of breast cancer and other abnormalities. Hologic Inc. acquired R2 in July 2006. Prior to leading R2, Mr. Pavlidis was global president of Siemens Ultrasound, a leader in medical ultrasound with highly acclaimed offerings for radiology, cardiology, women’s health, vascular and orthopedic imaging.

Aris Constantinides

Aris Constantinides  

Aris is the founder and Investment Director of NBGI Ventures, responsible for its overall strategy and management, and leads its presence in the medical technology sector. Aris established NBGI Ventures in 2001, following five years in venture capital with Deutsche Bank’s venture capital team and CSFB’s Cabot Square Capital fund. He started his career at Bankers Trust as a derivatives specialist. Aris holds a B.Eng from Imperial College and a SM from MIT in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from INSEAD.

Andrew Elder

Andrew Elder  

Andrew joined Close Ventures in 2005 and became a partner in Albion Ventures in 2009. He initially practiced as a surgeon for six years, specialising in neurosurgery, before joining the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as a consultant in 2001. Whilst at BCG he specialised in healthcare strategy, gaining experience with many large, global clients across the full spectrum of healthcare including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, service and care providers, software and telecommunications. He has an MA plus Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery from Cambridge University and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (England).
